In order to obtain a Student Visa, it is necessary to apply for a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) at the Japanese Immigration Bureau. In order to do so, you will need to gather the following documents:
– Passport copy
– Application form (provided by the school)
– Academic transcripts (high school or university)
– Proof of financial support (bank statements or sponsor’s income proof)

Once your application documents are ready, the school will submit them to the Japanese Immigration Bureau on your behalf.

The Student Visa is valid as long as your school attendance is higher than 90% (this could be different depending on the school) and the maximum length for Japanese Language studies in a Japanese Language School is 2 years. Usually, long-term courses students obtain a one year visa that will be renewed once if necessary.
