The school will run a background check through your Visa Application process and you will undergo an interview with a school’s representative.

What kind of lessons can I expect?

Classes typically last for a few hours, focusing on various aspects of the Japanese language, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Beginner students might learn basic grammar structures and essential kanji, while advanced students refine their conversational skills and practice complex sentence structures. Teachers often encourage interactive participation, using role-playing exercises, discussions, and group activities to make learning dynamic and engaging.

Depending on your level and availability, the school will place you in a morning or afternoon class. A class is made of 4 lessons of 45mins each.

Do Japanese Schools' staff speak English?

Most schools have Japanese Language Schools’ staff are Japanese and speak limited to no English at all. For this reason, the immersion is deeper and your Japanese skills will improve faster.

However, as it might be difficult for you to communicate with them in the beginning, it is necessary to apply for school enrolment through Japanice. Most schools might even decline your application if it is not made through a specialized agency like Japanice.

However, if there is a school that you are willing to apply for is not in our Japanese Language Schools list, we can always help you apply for school enrolment and student visa for free!

Please note that some schools do not have the capability to offer your a Student Visa due to Japanese Immigration Bureau restrictions. When applying to a new school, we always double check with the school and the Japanese Immigration Bureau on your behalf.

How likely is it that I will be accepted by the school?

How likely is it that I will obtain a Student Visa?

At Japanice, we make Japanese Language Schools available to everyone! Our expertise successfully secured 100% the Student Visa acquisition of our students.

The schools have the legal right to sponsor you for a Student Visa. This right can be revoked if their Student Visa application tally falls under a certain ratio set by the Japanese Immigration Bureau. For this reason, it is the school biggest interest to make you succeed!

In other words, we make sure that you match with the requirements and put all efforts to make sure you will succeed!

Can I study Japanese if I have no experience?

For student coming from OECD countries, there is usually no basic knowledge required. However, it is possible that the school requires you to have an JLPT N5 equivalent level (150hours of study) to apply.

Consult with Japanice to know what the Japanese skills requirements are for the school you want to study at.

Do I need a Student Visa?

Without a Student Visa, you will only be allowed to stay in Japan for 90 days under a Temporary Visitor status. It is therefore possible for you to study Japanese in Japan but only for short term courses.

We recommend you to study in Japan for at least one year to acquire strong Japanese Language skills. For this, you will need a Student Visa.
